Planters Peanuts Packaging Renovation Saves 220 Tons of Plastic a Year
FAIRFIELD, Conn. — Product Ventures’ work for the Planters brand is now available to the public. Our work focused on designing a new 16oz PET packaging container for Planters’ dry roasted peanuts — the highest volume seller of the Planters portfolio. The new design assisted with the company’s ESG goals by reducing the total amount of plastic material needed to manufacture the container, resulting in 220 tons of plastic saved each year.
In addition to sustainability goals, this packaging renovation conveys the peanut brand equity within the packaging. The slim center and tapered top and bottom evoke the image of a peanut. This design provides an easy-to-hold container without compromising the packaging’s stability when placed upright on surfaces or fast-moving manufacturing lines.
